Kalle (1994) started playing the cello at the age of 6. In 2008, he was admitted to the Sweelinck Academy for Young Talent in Amsterdam where he studied with Prof. Jeroen den Herder. From 2012, he completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Prof. den Herder and Prof. Jelena Očić, and subsequently his Master’s degree with Prof. Dmitri Ferschtman. Kalle has also followed masterclasses with, among others, Anner Bylsma, Alban Gerhardt, Uzi Wiesel, Itamar Golan, Leonid Gorokhov and Valter Dešpalj.
Kalle currently studies in the postgraduate degree program of the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with the much sought-after cello pedagogue Reinhard Latzko.

Kalle is a multifaceted musician. He has a particular passion for chamber music, but also feels at home as a soloist and orchestral musician. From a young age Kalle gained a wealth of experience playing chamber music, receiving intensive chamber music coaching from the distinguished violin pedagogue Coosje Wijzenbeek and performing in important concert halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, de Doelen in Rotterdam and TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht.

Kalle has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras. He has given two separate tours of Germany with the Betuws Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra Haarlem, performing the Schumann Cello Concerto. He also performed Vivaldi’s Double Concerto in the Cello Festival Zutphen as well as the Elgar Cello Concerto in the finals of the III Elsky International Cello Competition in Minsk.

In 2016, Kalle received the “Start-in-Splendor” prize at the National Cello Competition, allowing him to curate his own concert “carte blanche” at the renowned Splendor music venue in Amsterdam. He created a musical and visual journey through the surrealist world of the French composer Henri Dutilleux. Film, poetry and dance are media that Kalle regularly interacts with and incorporates into his performances.
